This Alerton controller is the main controller in a network of controllers that control an air conditioning and heating system in a large building. The Alerton BTI links the building automation system to the internet so remote control and monitoring can occur. Energy management systems such as this Alerton controller bring energy saving in the buildings air conditioning and heating systems. Included in the panel that houses the Alerton BTI is a step-down transformer from 120 volts to 24 volts, a terminal strip with built in fuse protection, and a surge protector to protect the controller against surges. The pink wire terminated to the left side of the Alerton BTI is the communication wire which runs to all the controllers in the network.
Air conditioning and heating DDC control can be markedly enhanced with a high performance control system such as those building automation systems offered by one of many DDC control manufacturers.
