Typically the customer calls an air conditioning and heating service company because the air conditioner quits working. An HVAC air conditioning technician is dispatched to troubleshoot and possibly repair the no cooling problem. Once the no cooling problem is determined the air conditioning equipment is repaired if possible. If a major air conditioner component has failed a decision has to be made. Some factors come into play on whether to replace the air conditioner condenser or the major component. Age of equipment is a major factor. If the air conditioner unit is more than fifteen years old and the compressor failed it is recommended that the unit be replaced. Other factors will determine if the major component b e replaced or the air conditioning condenser be replaced.
